27th February 2008
Dear Parents,
Now disregard all the information given before the holiday as the builders are a little behind!! Over the next few weeks they will finish the new toilets, paint, and carpet and put down a wet area in the new Class 2. When we have the Smart Board up and running plus new shelves there will be a grand move in. Once that mission is achieved we will move Reception out of the Staff Room and into the present Class 2 room. This will be exciting!
Then the real building work will start and we should see the new hall rising from the ashes….so to speak!! I will inform you all as to when Class 3 have to use the temporary door, but at the moment we are using the main door. I think Class 3 will be great with windows at the end of the room as there is a great view across the wonderful countryside.
Collecting Time Again!
Please note we are once again collecting both TESCO and SAINSBURY vouchers. Boxes for collection are based in the Library.
School Uniform
It is important that we keep to our school uniform as it is something to be proud of. Can I remind everyone that TRAINERS are not to be worn in school but shoes. We only wear trainers on days for PE and this is usually when we are outside. While the grass area is muddy the children can change into trainers for break times ONLY whilst out playing. A plastic bag is needed to keep the trainers in as they can get muddy.
North Cotswold Cross Country Run
On February 14th a big band of Y5 and Y6 children went along to take part in the annual cross country run. They were all very excited and keen. It was a VERY cold day but all represented our school with pride and ran their socks off!! All finished in respectable places and I am pleased to say that Emma Jones came in 8th. This means she will go forward to the next stage so VERY WELL DONE TO HER.
Football Tournament
On Friday 15th two teams of boys went along to represent us at a football tournament arranged at St. Edward’s School. The boys played their matches well and were up against Cheltenham Schools of a much bigger size. They were not daunted and drew matches, won some and only lost a little. A team came 3rd overall, with the B team 4th. All played well with our Y3 and Y4 boys taking on teams of Y5 and Y6. Well done to all of you. Coach Claridge was very pleased.

Summer Term
This is to let you know that St. Joseph’s School has not appointed a new Head and so have requested we allow Mrs. Wembridge to remain for Summer 2008. This has been agreed and Miss Robinson will continue in Class 4. This will give very good continuity and although not keen on hissing snakes….she is looking at some very exciting trips and visits based on the topic – RAINFORESTS.
World Book Day
This has come upon us again and the children will be coming home with their book vouchers next week. Although not completely finalised, as we are meeting tonight to discuss, I have booked the Sealegs Puppet Theatre to come and give a show for us called The Selfish Giant. I am sure this will be great and as well as being enjoyable will inspire the children. More information will follow at the end of the week, but ideas include a Bring and Buy Book Sale and non-uniform day.
Kind regards,
T. Buck
