13th March 2008
Dear Parents,
All the worry over having no electricity on Monday was for nothing as the wind blew and it was too dangerous. You know how when the electricity goes off you say something like….let’s watch the TV….I did that with the heating. Yes it is oil, but I forgot the pump is electric!! I’m sure the weather will be better when it eventually goes off so we won’t have to worry.
Nature Quiz
On Wednesday 12th March Emily Hulbert, Emily Brazington, Suzi Bevan, David Stevens and Aisling Duggan went to North Cerney to take part in the first round. They had been revising over the last few weeks and have been coached by Mrs. Hulbert. They were excited when they left but nervous. Aisling went as the reserve and took along our lucky mascot and I’m pleased to announce that they did BRILLIANTLY……winning this round. Well done for REPRESENTING OUR SCHOOL WITH PRIDE and we will await the second round. Keep revising!!
Family Service
On Sunday 9th March Class 1 and 2 took the Family Service at St. Andrew’s Church and based it on Leaders. Lots of the children took part and I have to say that I was very impressed with their reading and acting skills. They told us of the stories around and gave a good account of how Jesus chose his followers, fishing on Lake Galilee and going to tea with Zacchaeus. Reception children acted out the story of the Good Samaritan and looked very impressive in all their outfits. Very well done to all of them and it was well received by the Church congregation. Class 4…..it’s your turn in the Summer Term.
Walking to School
Now the weather is improving it is really a great idea to park at the Village Hall and walk down to school. This will save such a lot of congestion and make it less stressful for you. Just think of all the things you can talk about now Spring is coming. Nature is such a wonderful thing and you can celebrate our wonderful world as you walk through the countryside. It just means an extra few minutes and think of the health benefits!! If you do have to park around the school PLEASE make sure it is sensible and that cars can pass if need be. I always think you might be blocking an emergency vehicle and we never know when one may need to get through!!
Building Work
We are in a bit of transition time now as the builders are more or less out of the school….as I can hear at the moment…..knocking down the old toilets!! We are working towards moving the classrooms by the long holiday but would be very pleased to have a working party to paint the existing Class 2 before Reception move in. This would be sometime during the week starting 31st March. If you could spare a few hours we would be most grateful. It certainly won’t take long to do so please see me and we can either plan a morning or even an early evening session.

Cooking with Mrs. Smee
Next Wednesday Mrs. Smee is coming in to work with all the classes to make Easter treats. Class 4 are making Easter Chick buns, Class 3 Easter biscuits, Class 2 Truffles and Class 1 Easter nests. Many thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Smee who are funding all the ingredients.
And now to the Easter Fun Day!! The children will be going on an Egg Hunt at Mr. Milfords. Ms. Fan has organised a safe hunt and the children will be accompanied by staff and PTA helpers. The times will be 9.00a.m.-10.30a.m. – Class 1 & 2, 11.00a.m. – 12noon – Class 3 and 1.00p.m. – 2.00p.m. – Class 4. There WILL BE swimming as usual. At. 200p.m. we will then have a cake and drink sale…cakes made the day before. The children will therefore need £1.50p for the Egg Hunt and 50p for the sale in the afternoon. During the times the children are in class they will be doing Easter activities so it should be an enjoyable day.
Kind regards,
T. Buck
