27th March 2008

Dear Parents,

The first move has now taken place and Class 2 are nice and cosy in their new room. It looked huge when it was empty but now full a very pleasant classroom. With new shelves up and pin boards the room looks like it’s been lived in for years!! At this very moment the old class is being painted ready for the arrival of the Reception class. Then we can sort out the Staff room and entrance area. The gain is now certainly taking away all the PAIN!!

Easter Fun Time

It has certainly been strange at school having the short Easter Break but we did have an enjoyable time last week. On Wednesday the children all enjoyed making their cakes and biscuits. Reception stirred their crispy cakes and made Easter nests, Class 2 had more chocolate on them than the truffles, Class 3 used decorations to make very imaginative biscuits and Class 4 iced and decorated the cakes. Many thanks to Mrs. Smee who gave of her time to instruct them in their cooking.

On Thursday morning the children then went on an Easter Egg Hunt in Mr. Milford’s garden. It really is a great place and they followed clues around and ended up with the treasure…chocolate egg. As part of our work on measurements they all had to estimate measurements and this gave us a good insight into what they know!! Then, as the coldest wind of the year swept across the car park, we had our cake sale. The children really enjoyed their cakes and were soon busy eating away and didn’t notice the icy blasts!! We raised a FANTASTIC £70, after expenses, and many thanks to the PTA for all their help and Jackie Heywood for helping with the hunt.

Chedworth World Cup

The World Cup comes to Chedworth Playing Fields on Monday March 31st from 4.30p.m. to 5.30p.m. It is a free session all you need are your boots, kit, shin pads and a drink to keep you going. This is part of a new initiative backed by Sir Trevor Brooking and the FA. After last night I think we really do need to find the best talent we can!! The session will be supervised by trained coaches who’ve got all the necessary qualifications. If Monday 31st is a success they’ll be back in April. If you want to find out more ring Tom Watt on 01285 720694.

Class 1 and 2 Music Performance

Over the Spring Term Class 1 and 2 have been working with Mr. Trim on songs based around their topics. They really did a lot of hard work learning all their words and on Tuesday afternoon entertained us superbly. They sang really well and were like a real choir and even used the percussion instruments. Our 3 young violinists also played and I can see them developing into excellent musicians. We are very lucky to have Mr. Trim who always gives of his time tirelessly and helps in all our music, especially running the excellent orchestra. Look out for you joining in at the end of the Summer Term!!
