9 May 2008 - Newsletter 29
9th May 2008
Dear Parents,
Goodness me I suddenly thought its FRIDAY and no Newsletter had gone out!! Well I suppose we did loose Monday so as long as we all remember its Saturday tomorrow we’ll be back on track
It all went very quiet on the building front for a few days while the footings dried. On Wednesday however the crane came hurtling in and the steel structure of the hall began to rise. By the end of Thursday it was clear to see what a great hall it will be! The premises are really going to be fantastic and we are already planning the curriculum around it. I know one thing Class 4 will be very pleased when they won’t have to do furniture removals everyday to allow us to gather together for Worship. They all do it really well and without gripes and groans so a BIG THANK YOU to them all.
Celebration Week
It is time for us to celebrate all the hard work and efforts the children have put into their work over the last year. As well as the Y6 children Y5, Y4 and Y3 will be completing tasks and the Y2 finalising their achievements. Alongside this we will be doing reading and spelling ages. All this is to give us a clear indication of where the children are and we can then analyse our teaching and curriculum to make sure we are delivering the very best for all the children in our care. The Foundation Stage Profile is also being completed. It hardly seems possible that the Reception will soon be Y1 and our new Reception group making their first visits very soon. Time certainly does move on and as they say waits for no one.

Morning Routines
We are certainly finding that our mornings are very calm now we are all in the routine of coming into school and settling down straight away. It is good the children are showing more responsibility in organising themselves and this is very important. Just remember to allow them to develop this and not come into the cloakrooms or classrooms in the mornings. Any messages for Class Teachers can be put in the book by the office and I can assure you the messages are relayed promptly. If you wish to make an appointment, a quick phone call to arrange a time is all you need to do.
Did you know that you are your child’s first teacher? Well I’m sure you did and you know your child will learn best when feeling able to take risks. Your expectations may make them anxious so remember DO NOT be preoccupied with being the best and getting results may come at the expense of REAL LEARNING. You need to be positive and SUPPORTIVE and create a positive environment. Here are some tips:-
-
Avoid comparisons with other children
-
Avoid threats
-
Recognise learning as an achievement
AND
REMEMBER YOUR CHILD IS NOT A LEVEL OR A TEST
Kind regards,
T. Buck
