22nd May 2008
Dear Parents,
Last Friday Class 3 went to Downend in Bristol to make a comparison with Chedworth as part of their Geography work on contrasting localities. The children had worked on questionnaires and went to a local pub, community centre, church and school. After a traffic survey where they were busy all the time…not like Chedworth where I think they saw the postman and a horse…they really had a lot of information to compare. In a few weeks they will be going to enjoy the facilities of Bristol including @Bristol and finding out about the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the wonderful designer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
Netball Match
Our gallant girls went off to Northleach to play their match and returned happy. They did however say that the children were as big as Mr. Harvey and very quick. Maybe we need to pop them in a pot to grow!! Although not winning they were keen, tried really hard and worked as a team. Well done to them all.
Y1 Students
Our two Y1 B Ed Students have been ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. They have worked really hard in their three week block and been a great asset. During the Celebration Week they took the Y5 group and worked on weather disasters. They children’s work showed a good understanding as well as excellent research skills. At the end of the week they performed a weather report and props included coats and umbrellas. It was all very creative and fun! I’m sure our two students will go from strength to strength in their next two years although I did have to stop myself asking them to sit down and get on with their work as they look SO YOUNG!
Y2 B Ed Students
Our two Y2 students will be starting their three week block straight after the holiday.
Gardening
A lot is happening round and about the school due to Gardening Club, class projects and Ms. Leigh. You’ll see the pots being done for the forthcoming Horticultural Show as well as lots of planting in our beds around the back entrance. It looks FANTASTIC and the children are so excited by it all. We do however have another excited visitor….a baby rabbit. Cute but nibbling a few things. Still that is what happens in the country. Many thanks to Ms. Leigh who is showing great creativity in this area.

Open Farm Sunday – June 1st – Manor Farm
This is fast becoming a great annual event and once again there is lots going on. It starts at 12noon and there will be a Nature Trail around the farm. The model aircraft will be on display and Mr. Chapple will demonstrate dry stone walling. There will be sheep shearing at 3.00p.m. and milking at 4.00p.m. Along with teas there will be a raffle and pizzas cooked on a wood fire oven!! However the most exciting part will be FELIX AND GEORGE’S PET CORNER. These boys are working towards having animals on show…a snake might come into it…and I congratulate them on their enterprise.
Have a good week.
Kind regards,
T. Buck
