5th June 2008

Dear Parents,

Can you believe the rain on Tuesday!! Our gallant Y5 and Y6 were out at South Cerney and they really got wet. Well they would anyway doing water sports so I don’t think they minded at all. It was a very successful visit and they all enjoyed canoeing, kayaking and sailing. The low ropes involved a tunnel and I can say they were all very brave and went into the darkness fearlessly. The children ate well, played well and behaved BRILLIANTLY. The only thing not done well was SLEEPING!! I think some of them saw 3.00a.m. on Monday night and 1.15a.m. on Tuesday night. I expect they were very tired on Wednesday night and hopefully didn’t give their Parents a rough time.

Many thanks must go to Ms. Fan and Miss Robinson who looked after the children, made sure they were safe and gave them a really fun time. Mr. Jones could also have a change of occupation as he was superb with the children, excellent on initiative, worked well with the team and gave 150%...even swimming out to get the football when it managed to get in the lake…3 times!!. A HUGE thank you to him from all of us.

Open Farm Sunday

This was a very successful event and I’m sure all of you who went had fun. George Richmond and Felix Bowers set up their pet corner and raised money for The Gloucestershire Wild Life Trust. They had lambs, bulls, hermit crabs, tadpoles and ………a SNAKE!! I gather that the snake was fed a pinkie! The boys raised a FANTASTIC £58.97 and have handed it over to the Wildlife Trust this week. Well done to them both and they certainly represent our School with Pride. Many thanks also for the donation from the raffle of £89 towards the Hall Fund.

Boxes for your Change

Don’t forget the boxes are placed in the entrance, on the table by the new toilets and in Class 3 for any loose change you may have. This is a venture set up by Grace, Jess Green and Lauren to raise money for endangered animals. Please drop a few coins in as they haven’t had much so far!!

PTA Nature Walk

This is taking place on FRIDAY 6TH JUNE. Start from school at 5.45p.m. to 6.00p.m. - £2 an adult, £1 a child or £5 a family. There will be a quiz to do on the way and you will end up at The Fossebridge where a bar b que is planned. May I add that NO children can come unless they are with and supervised by an adult. In past years this has been a really relaxing and enjoyable evening where the children can use up excess energy and fill up on good food. Hope to see you there although I may….no I will…have to drive to the pub.

Kind regards,

T. Buck
