14 Jul 2008 - Newsletter 38
14TH July 2008
Dear Parents,
An early Newsletter this week so we can all hopefully be at the right place at the right time!!
Tuesday 15th July
1. Y5 are visiting Pre-School in the morning. They will go with Mrs. Baker and return for lunch.
2. Matinee Performance of The Old Time Music Hall - Class 3 & 4 will change into their costumes AT SCHOOL. They will then leave all their school bits and pieces AT SCHOOL. Class 2 and 1 will go to the hall for 1p.m. to enjoy the show. £1 is needed to cover an ice cream/lolly in the interval – this to be brought into their teachers please. They will also leave all their bits and pieces AT SCHOOL. ALL children therefore need to be picked up from THE VILLAGE HALL and you can then return to school to collect their belongings. (Roll on next year when we can do all this in our New Hall!!). Class 3 and 4 then need to return to The Village Hall at about 6.10p.m. ready for the evening performance at 6.30p.m. IF YOU HAVEN’T GOT YOUR TICKETS (THEY ARE GOING FAST) YET COME AND FIND ME OR MRS. CUNDICK. They cost £3 for an Adult and £2 for a child. Pre-School Children are very welcome in the afternoon but NOT in the evening. Money from the tickets is going to help pay for the use of the hall and towards the new litter bin the Y6 are raising money for as their leaving present to the school.
Wednesday 16th July
This is a very quiet day for us all!! Drawers, classrooms and muddles will be cleared.
Thursday 17th July
Sports Afternoon – 1.00p.m. at PC Playing Field.
Children will be told the teams they are in and the colour. If possible they need to wear something of that colour but it is not compulsory or essential as we will have bands. The afternoon will incorporate team activities as well as races. It is hoped to finish at 3.00p.m. so ALL children need to again be picked up from the Village Hall.
Friday 18th July
The Leavers Service is at 9.00a.m. on Friday so ALL children need to be taken to the church for 8.50a.m. Those who come by taxi or normally to Breakfast Club may do so as normal and they will be walked to the Church. Everyone is welcome to stay to the Service and it should last approximately an hour. We will then walk back to school to end our year together. School will end at 3.00pm. after our last School Worship of 2007-2008
Barn Dance
This took place a week back and I must say it was most enjoyable and fun. The hall looked very jolly and the young band played brilliantly as the caller got everyone up and moving. With a Bar B Q supper everyone was happy and although not raising a great deal of money it was a brilliant social occasion. Many thanks to Mrs. Minns who did the organising and lots who joined in with helping when and where needed.
Weston Visit
Class 1 and 2 can hardly believe their luck!! They had a really fine day in between all that rain! After a tour of the Aquarium they then went onto the beach and enjoyed playing in the sand. They had donkey rides and ice creams – in fact all the fun of a day on the beach. Class 2 went to the pier and all return happy but worn out. Many thanks to the PTA who funded the coach.
Walk to School
The weather was not all that kind to us when we wanted to do our quizzes but some were done and I hope the children were able to see how we need to care for the planet we live on. Our Creative days also showed their creativity and you must drop into the Library to see the results. They are very good at knowing what to do and that is GREAT for the future. It was also great to see everyone helping and supporting each other and this is showing maturity and intelligence by the children in many areas.
DON’T FORGET – IN SEPTEMBER WALK TO SCHOOL - at least park at the Village Hall and WALK DOWN TO SCHOOL!!
SCHOOL RE-OPENS ON WEDNESDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER
I would like to end by thanking you all very much for your support and understanding this year. None of us knows what is around the corner and that is a good thing really!! I know the reaction of people can make a situation more acceptable and you all certainly did that. With a great team behind me I however do know we are ready to tackle 2008-2009 with vigour and vitality….EVER ONWARD!
Take care over the holiday.
Many thanks and kind regards,
T. Buck
