20th September 2007

Dear Parents,

We are certainly zooming through September and soon will be in October. After a short induction time our Reception children will be staying all day from MONDAY 1St OCTOBER. They have settled really well into School life and are interested in everything and all get on very well. All are happy and keen to come to school....so very important at this stage. Enjoy the pictures of our Reception children.

We are doing this to give you a more detailed and clear overview of the academic year and the topics the children will be covering. We will be holding an Open Evening in Autumn 2 for you to see the children's work and meet again with the teachers. In the meantime please remember there is NEVER a PROBLEM.....only a solution. Do come and see us after school, or ring for an appointment if you have any concerns.

Sale

A group of Y6 girls have already been to me and want to raise money to help our two children in Kenya and endangered animals. They are sorting out and organising the event which I am sure we will all support. It will take place at 2.00p.m. on FRIDAY 5th OCTOBER. During the week they would like any TOYS, BOOKS OR VIDEOS TO SELL, GOOD CONDITION PLEASE, and TOMBOLA and RAFFLE PRIZES. They are going to do biscuits, cakes and drinks. All the children have to do is bring in 50p or so to spend. I'll remind everyone again but please keep this in mind when sorting out at home or when shopping. This is a great way to encourage children to do things and certainly keeps our VALUES.

Values

Just to let you know that in Autumn (1) we are covering the VALUE OF COURAGE. We will look at the belief that acts of courage have included facing danger and opposition, overcoming fear and making a stand for what is right. It is also about encouraging others. Over the term we will look at:

· Encouraging others

· Facing our fears with Courage

· Facing bullies with Courage

· The Courage to stand firm

· Courage to make the first move.

We feel that it is important to help the children deal with these VALUES to help them to find a satisfactory way of living together. As one child said in Collective Worship a few days ago... WITHOUT THEM IT WOULD BE A RIOT!!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Christmas is nearly here..well not quite but making our Christmas cards is! The children will be doing their designs and you can come and order the cards you would like on TUESDAY 9TH OCTOBER. For New Parents - we then send the designs away and they are printed into packs of cards which have your child's name on. These are great for you, or them to send out at Christmas.

Finance Officer

On Wednesday the Chair of Governors and myself interviewed for a Finance Officer. Many thanks to all those who applied and I pleased to say that Ms. Wendy James has been appointed. We welcome her to our team.

Kind regards,
