4th October 2007

Dear Parents,

I was so pleased and proud of our children last week at our Harvest Service. Each Class had worked towards a presentation based on the theme of sharing and caring. Reception were very convincing animals and Leo the Lion roared convincingly, in a very loving way. Mrs. Pearson eventually became a monkey and that was a bit scary.....she looked much better!!! Class 2 then went on to tell us about St. Francis of Assisi and showed some excellent paintings of their favourite animals. Class 3 talked about the gifts we can bring to help our family, friends and the world and the poems written by Class 4 were thought provoking and descriptive. From Reception to Year 6 the children showed confidence when reading or acting. All the children sat well and kept our GOLDEN VALUE, WE REPRESENT OUR SCHOOL WITH PRIDE!.

Our collection was for the flood victims in Gloucestershire. I am pleased to announce we collected a FABULOUS £103.88p. Thank you all very much for your support.

Y6 Sale

Don't forget this will be taking place on Friday afternoon at 2.00p.m. They need books, videos or DVD's and toys for the sale and any cakes or biscuits would be much appreciated. All the children need to bring in a small amount of money to spend at the sale. The money raised will go towards helping our two children in Kenya and towards endangered animals. The sale is being run and organised by some of the Y6 and I'm sure you'll all be very supportive.

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Yes Christmas has been well and truly here this week. The children have been making their cards ready for you to come and see next Tuesday at 3.00p.m., or at least by Friday of next week. You can then order packs and we will send them away to get their names and school added. These make excellent personal cards for them to send to those doting Grannies and Grandads, Godparents, other relatives and their friends. We have based our designs on LIGHT from the Unit of work we will be covering at Christmas in RE. So not only do you have great cards we also get a proportion of the money and use this to buy more art equipment. Luckily for Mrs. Emes we didn't get out the glitter, but December won't be long!!

PGCE Students

On Monday 8th October 3 PGCE students will be coming to St. Andrew's. They will be based in Class 2, 3 and 4. It is always rewarding and exciting to have students who often bring new and creative ideas. Two of the students are from the University of Gloucestershire and one from Oxford Brookes. I am sure we will all welcome them to school and help them wherever we can.

If you haven't already heard Planning Permission for the New Hall and revamp of the classrooms has now been passed. The job is now out for tender and we should be informed soon who this will be together with a start date. The Architect and Diocese are planning on it all happening by November. If Mrs. Emes thought glitter was a problem she ain't seen nothing yet!!

Exciting though and so essential.

Kind regards,
