10th October 2007
Dear Parents,
It hardly seems believable that the Autumn Term holiday is only a week away! Where does the time go? They say time goes by fast, if you are enjoying yourselves and we certainly are here. The Y6 group are very responsible and taking on their role of Youth Leaders very seriously. The Wake and Shake routines are now in real swing and very active. At lunchtimes the children are also leading sports activities with the Reception, Y1 and Y2. They are well prepared, confident and have excellent ideas. Well done to them and now they have their Buddies it's great to see them reading and enjoying stories together.
Requests for Holidays
Please make sure that all requests for holidays or days must be given to me in a letter. If you don't hear from me it means all is O.K. Can I however remind you that losing school time can be difficult and once returning to school children feel confused as to what the other children are doing. I need to remind all Y6 Parents that the children will not be allowed an absence .....even if it is the flu...the week starting 12th May 2008. (That's our CELEBRATION WEEK).
Class 4 Residential
Just for your information Class 4 will be going to South Cerney for their residential visit in the Summer. They will go on June 2nd and return on June 4th, staying 2 nights in the log cabins.
Morning Routines
We are finding the start to each day so calm and organised now...no I won't say it!! We have however noted Parents are now starting to come into the Cloakrooms. This will defeat the object of sending the children to organise themselves so proving their independence. Parents need to leave the children from OUTSIDE. We are finding the children are more aware of where their things are and now know if they brought things in or not. I can assure you all are coping, or learning to, very quickly. May I add that after the CHRISTMAS holidays we will be asking Reception Parents to do the same and leave the children at the door, remembering it will only be 2 terms to Y1!!
Family Service
Class 3 will be taking the Family Service on Sunday 14th October at St. Andrew's Church at 11.00a.m. The theme will be COURAGE which is based on our VALUE this term. Everyone is welcome to join them and I'm sure they will keep our GOLDEN VALUE - WE WILL REPRESENT OUR SCHOOL WITH PRIDE.
Oinky
Now if your child comes home with a lovely pink pig called Oinky it is because they have shown the VALUE we are exploring. It used to be Boing Boing Cow but after years of hard work has now gone out to pasture.
Opening Doors
Can I remind you all that the children ARE NOT allowed to open the doors - even if it is you on the other side. This is very much a matter of safety and I know you will all support us in this.
