18 Oct 2007 - Newsletter 7
18th October 2007
Dear Parents,
Lots to tell you in this Newsletter - so keep alert and digest all!!
Although not a firm date we are sure that the building work will start in November. There have been quite a few builders around and tenders have to be in during the holiday and once assigned I'm sure things will start moving. This will also mean moving the children as well as we will have to empty classrooms at certain times. We are determined to make this as calm and smooth as possible so the minimum amount of movement will happen. It is however clear that the existing hall and Reception area will be hugely disrupted and so it has been decided to move this class into our staff room. On Monday 29th October staff will be in School to do the move and on Tuesday 30th this is where the Reception children will be taught. It will be made into their Classroom and we will have to sacrifice the staff room until the new area is ready. It has also been decided that it would be best for Reception children to enter and leave School from the MAIN ENTRANCE each day. Until further notice all other classes will remain where they are.
Obviously the staff will be homeless for the forthcoming months so if you see them perching on a chair somewhere just bear with them!!
School Sweat Shirts
With a lot of disruption about to happen it is ESSENTIAL children look after their own things and sweat shirts are no exception. Can you please make sure they are NAMED and you check them for the right names! Having them all the same does cause problems if they are not clearly marked and checked.
Snack Times
Can I please remind everyone that we have fruit snacks on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesdays are wicked and on a Thursday the children can have fruit plus something else as long as it's NOT CRISPS. It is important all children, particularly at KS2 as they don't have any fruit provided, have a snack each day to help with energy levels. Don't forget there is also the option of having milk, so ask in the office for details.
Art Project
With the new Hall now a reality Mrs. Bowers has come up with a great idea for a spectacular art sculpture to go on one of the walls. All the children will be working on the piece and have already had the initial thinking session. After the holiday we will be starting on making the huge cog wheel that will show all the great things the children think about their school and the community. (See details of the end of this letter).

PE at Village Hall
After the holiday the children will be going to the Village Hall for PE sessions. Classes 2, 3 and 4 will go for 2 sessions each week and Class 1 for 1 session a week.
The Governors have been approached by the Governors of St. Joseph's School to ask if Mrs. Wembridge could remain for another term, with a strong possibility of remaining until July 2008, as they have not yet filled the position of Headteacher. The Governors discussed this at their last meeting and it was decided to agree to this request. We are fortunate to have Miss Robinson who is prepared to remain with us for Spring 3 and 4 and would also do Summer 5 and 6 if required.
Well must go lots of boxes to fill ready for the move and we must all remember.....NO PAIN....NO GAIN..and the premises will be FANTASTIC once complete. Still there's nothing chocolate won't help (only on a Wednesday I know!)
Kind regards,
T. Buck
