22nd November 2007

Dear Parents,

WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK was a great success with all the children, and you, who took part enthusiastically. All the children had a reward for this on Monday and I'm sure they were all very happy. However we need to really try and keep this up as we want to make a difference both for our world and the parking around school. We are going to keep records of the children who continue to make the effort and will again recognise this at a later date. For those who can't walk for many reasons we will have activities for them to do but it will be their choice. Our next aim is to look at car sharing, although I know this is already happening, and I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Fitch, Ms. Fan and Miss Robinson are travelling together wherever possible. I of course walk everyday, so a shining example to all!! Attached is a diary of Walking to School Week by Emily Hulbert.

Photographs

Could all orders for photographs please be returned to the school office by Monday 26th November so we can get them off to the studio in time to get them back by Christmas. Remember you need to bring the packs back even if you don't want them.

OPEN EVENING

This is taking place MONDAY 26TH NOVEMBER from 6.00p.m. to 7.45p.m Teachers will be in their classes to speak to you but this is an informal evening. Your child's books will be out at their places and displays will celebrate the work being done in class. Mrs. Floyd will also be around to speak to parents of the children that she sees. If you want a more confidential meeting with the Class Teacher, please make a convenience appointment with them.

PTA - AGM

At 7.45p.m. on Monday 26th November we will be holding the annual AGM of our very active and excellent PTA. As many of you as possible are needed to attend and we are really hoping for new members, as some of the existing members are now reaching the end of their times at St. Andrew's and it is essential to have people to carry on.

The PTA is a very important and essential part of the school. Not only does it raise money to pay for coaches to take the children out, it covered the cost of the Maths Puzzle Day on Monday and Gary the Clown next Wednesday. They are also paying for new reading books to the value of £1,000!! So come on, join the PTA and help every child have fun!!

Disco

On Friday December7th we will be having our annual Christmas Disco from 6.00p.m. to 7.30p.m. SHARP!! at the Village Hall. In preparation for this has anyone got any lights, disco balls we could use to get the right ambiance!! If so please let me know. Cost will £2.50 to include entrance, food and drink. Extras will include glow up necklaces and the usual Beauty Parlour. More information next week. If the children want an up to date DISCO they will need to sort out some music as I'm very out of touch. The CD's need to be marked with their name and the track that is to be played....suitable of course!!

Hope as many of you as possible can pop in to support us.

Don't forget to get those tickets sold and if you need more they are in the process of being printed. Bring any sold tickets to the office as soon as possible. This has the POTENTIAL to raise us a lot of money, so get those relatives, friends and work mates buying.

Our Christmas Fair

This will be on FRIDAY DECEMBER 14th - 3.00p.m. at the Village Hall. Although a little while away we need to start thinking of getting things for the tombola and gift stalls. So please when you are out shopping pop something extra into the trolley and then start bringing in to store in my office. Candles, Christmas food, decorations, CHOCOLATE is all acceptable, so get looking!

St. Andrew's Day

This year we are going to celebrate the SAINTS DAYS and St. Andrew's happens to be next Friday. We are going to be finding out about St. Andrew and so would like the children to wear blue and white for the day. It is going to be fun along with the real chance we'll actually know why our school is named St. Andrew's.

I declare CHRISTMAS, with all the glitter and shine, will start on December 3rd. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Kind regards,

T. Buck
