28th November 2007
Dear Parents,
I cannot tell you how proud we all were of the children who organised and ran the sale last Friday. They had prepared their stalls and set them up with little guidance and once the other children came it was clear to see it was a SUCCESS. They had a treasure hunt, name the cuddly toy, biscuit decorating and a timed obstacle course. Everything had been thought of and prizes bought. The Hairdressing Salon was a huge success with spiky hair and French plaits all the rage. I had a French plait and it was EXCELLENT. At the end the money was counted and a really FANTASTIC £55 raised. This will go towards our two children in Kenya, Armina and Izaak. We had a School Report from the school and both are good students who try very hard at their lessons. The two children also wrote to our children and were thankful of the money that kept them in school, fed them and clothed them. So, well done to Emily B, Emily R, Mercedes, Amy and Emma for all your hard work and care. Enjoy the pictures:
PE
Due to the Village hall being used for the Drama play this week we will be having our PE sessions at school…..weather permitting.
Trip to Warwick Castle
The Reception Class had a very informative and exciting visit to Warwick Castle last Friday. They explored the grounds, went into the dungeons and looked inside to find out about life in a castle and all the things they wore or needed. The armour and equipment used was a great success and I’m sure lots of work will follow. Many thanks to the PTA who funded the coach.
DON’T FORGET TO KEEP WALKING TO SCHOOL
‘Bye and Good Luck!
It is with sadness we have to say goodbye to Ms. Rachel Evans as our dinner supervisor and teaching assistant. As many of you will have guessed by looking at her a new baby is soon to arrive!! We await the news in the New Year but want to thank Ms. Evans for all her hard work and dedication over the period of time she has been with us. Having number 5….yes 5!!...I’m sure will now be a doddle for her!!
Welcome
May I take this opportunity to welcome Mrs. Barton who will be taking on the Dinner Supervisors role and 6 hours per week as a teaching assistant. Many thanks to her for coming forward and I know it will be enjoyable and worthwhile.

PTA AGM
This took place at 7.45p.m. on Monday evening and I am pleased to say a new committee has now been elected. Mr. Watt has been re-elected as Chair with Mr. George as Vice Chair and Mr. Bowers as Treasurer. Other Committee members are Ms. James, Mr. Gregory, Mrs. George, Ms. Prosser, Mrs. Mann, Mrs. Minns, Ms. Leigh and Ms. Glass. It is such an important part of our School Development and the funds raised help so much with enhancing the curriculum. Already this year the PTA has bought new reading books, paid for coaches, together with a Puzzle Day and tennis.
Open Evening
Many thanks to all of you for coming along to the Open Evening. I’m sure you would agree that the classrooms were vibrant and the work on display excellent. The quality and amount of work is also great and I am very proud of all the children and the efforts they are putting in. Don’t forget if you couldn’t make it the teachers are willing to meet with you at anytime – just call in to make an appointment
Christmas Trees
To help raise funds for the Rescue Centre Christmas trees are on sale at The Oak and Furrow Wildlife Rescue Centre, Somerford Keynes. They will be on sale the weekend 8th and 9th December at the Centre and at the back of Greasy Joes, Cirencester, every day between 12noon and 6.00p.m. Trees up to 6’ and under £10.
Lunches
Can I make a REALLY BIG PLEA!!! Dinner orders MUST be in on time as it causes great problems for both us and the Farm Shop. Also can I please remind you that if you have ordered a lunch and your child is unwell, then we are unable to carry forward the money for another lunch. Obviously if we forget to tell you of an event or trip and you have ordered a lunch that is different.
It is really good to see so many children and adults still walking to school after our very successful Walk to School Week. We are keeping a note of all those still making the effort, but have one thing to ask. If you do have to drive down, please drive carefully and slowly to make it as safe as possible. Our next plan is to try and get some form of pavement along the top road by the Village Hall and a WALK and SHARE route down the hill. We’ll keep you posted on this soon.
Don’t forget to get sorting out for the Christmas Fayre on the 14th DECEMBER. We need lots of things for the stalls but a new idea came up at the PTA meeting. I’m sure we’ve all got lots of Christmas Decorations at home, in the loft, and some we don’t use again. So how about bringing them along to recycle.
Ho! Ho! Ho!
Kind regards,
T. Buck
