9th January 2008
Dear Parents,
May we all wish you a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR and remember 2008 will be GREAT!!!
At last, on Tuesday morning at 10.00a.m., two builders appeared. Work has now started and I suppose from now until completion, which we hope will be August; there will be lots of builders!!! This is really a great start to the New Year and very exciting. I think diggers and dumper trucks may figure greatly in the Receptions lives from now on. I only hope they don’t expect to see Bob the Builder!
Christingle Service
I think we can all agree that this was a lovely service and all the children performed confidently and with enthusiasm. It was a really magical way to lead into Christmas and when we turned off the lights we really transported ourselves to that wondrous time. At the end the collection raised £157 which has been sent to the Children’s Society. Many thanks to you all for that.
Talent Show
This went very well and we all joined in and hope that the children had an enjoyable afternoon. One highlight was Mrs. Cundick playing chopsticks on the piano accompanied with a very superior ting on the triangle by Mrs. Guest!! Real talent!! The Spice Girls made a visit and were very subtle doing their dance routines as were Jasmine and her backing band when they sang A Brand New World. Turning one of the children into a Christmas Tree was very clever and all this hosted by Bruce and Tess. There are thoughts that next year a Pantomime might be showing! I hope the rocking of my boat in the Summer will help with inspiration.
Christmas Party
We made our own recycled crackers and hats for this so keeping in touch with our Eco School roots. We used plastic cups which were washed and recycled as much of the food as we could. The PTA did a great job of supplying and preparing the food and it went down very well. With games played and full stomachs we hope they all came home happy and content.
Swimming
The pool in Cirencester is going to re-open in March and so we are able to take up 5 weeks from 6th March. We obviously cannot take all the children and have made the decision to take Y4, Y5 and Y6. Obviously in September we will take all the children over the two terms. I am sure you will all understand this and more detail will go to the relevant children nearer the time.
Clubs and Homework
Please note that this will all start on MONDAY 14TH JANUARY. Club forms will come home on Thursday and must be returned by Monday morning as we do need signatures.
Guitar Lessons
These have now started and any other children who wish to start will need to wait until September 2008.

Celebration Times
On a Wednesday morning our Y6 children will be spending time going over Literacy, Science and Numeracy to help with their Celebration Week in May. With such a big group we feel we do have to make sure we have prepared them and this only right and proper. Y5 children will be working with Mrs. Pearson. ALL Y6 CHILDREN NEED TO BE IN SCHOOL MONDAY MAY 12TH – FRIDAY MAY 16TH.
I have just looked out and there are vans and lorries parked all over the place. I think walking from the Village Hall will be essential as there are no parking spaces!! Good Luck.
Kind regards
T. Buck
