Beacon School

On 4th July 2001 we received a letter from the Secretary of State for Education and Skills offering St. Andrew?s School Beacon status from 1st September 2001.

Beacon Schools are schools that have been identified as amongst the best performing in the country and represent examples of successful practice to be brought to the attention of the rest of the education service.

This is a great privilege and challenge for all the team at St. Andrews. Not only does it give us the opportunity for our own continuing development and professional progress, but also the additional opportunity to assist other schools by giving them time to develop and share good practice.

Over the last year we have taken many Beacon initiatives and now have a detailed and extensive programme. From September 2002 we will continue to hold both workshops in ICT and Writing. Resources, non-contact time and training will be given to help improve and raise standards in other schools.

Many thanks must go to the whole team at St. Andrews, including parents, children and Governors. The school is only as good as the complete package.

The Key areas we are working on are

    ICT

   NUMERACY

   WRITING

If you want any more information on forthcoming events or would like help with any of the areas above, please contact the school through the web site or phone 01285 720427.

Kind regards

Tina Buck
