Class 4 Letter April 2007
20th April 2007
Dear Parents,
This term is going to be very busy and productive. Year 5 and 6 seems to go so quickly and soon Y5 will be Y6 and Y6 will move on to Y7.
We are studying the River Severn in our geography topic this term from source to sea. Did you know it is the longest river in Britain and is 354 miles long? Along with learning about the features of a river, we will be looking at some of the many and various areas the river runs through and its importance in history. We will also be making lots of links with art, literacy and music.
Other topics this term also link creatively together. Our main science topic is sound and this links to the design technology task of making musical instruments.
In Art we will be using our painting and drawing skills and use water / rivers as our inspiration. ICT will see us using control and Monitoring. RE is how and why believers care for each other and the world.
Don't forget to have PE kits in school at all times. All PE activities are outside this term, so daps or trainers will be required, as we will be doing Games and Athletics.
Homework continues to come home on Monday - spelling list included - and should be returned on Friday with all the reading folders. There will be a maths activity on Monday and Wednesday and reading should be done on the other days. Please make sure you sign all diaries and add comments.
With all this activity, it will soon be time for out Viney Hill adventure! More information about that will be sent nearer the time.
Yours truly
Sarah Wembridge
