Dear Parents and Children,

Here is the first ECO SCHOOL NEWSLETTER of 2008. Remember our motto, REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE.

The Eco School Notice Board has been moved to Class 4 because of all the building work. If you want to have a look feel free, On it are Felix’s Top Tip which is…………….

‘Recycling starts at home’

We are hoping that all the good work we do at school is also being done at home. Don’t forget the local tip recycles LOADS of things and as it is so near we really have no excuse.

Did you know?

Looking things up on the INTERNET is more Eco Friendly than buying a newspaper!!!

We can see that everyone is still walking to school and trying very hard, whatever, the weather. We need you to walk more than ever because of the building work. We do need to be careful with trucks and lorries delivering the goods but we all know to STOP STILL if we hear a vehicle. Look out for a letter on our new initiative THE WALKING BUS.

Did you know?

If you tear cardboard into thin pieces it can be added to your compost.

With all this rain we have realised that we could be collecting water in a butt and then using it in the Summer when we grow our vegetables and flowers. At the moment we are investigating what we can do, so more information later.

You can waste LOTS of water if you leave the taps on when cleaning your teeth.

So come on everyone lets all help save Planet Earth by recycling whatever we can.

Our main area to work on at school is turning off electrical items when we are not using them. This will be monitored at school and we hope to see a big improvement. Remember even leaving things on standby wastes a lot of energy.
